Cougars crowned kings of the court
The Mount Royal Cougars men’s basketball team were crowned ACAC Champions after defeating Concordia University on Mar.7.
The championship was the team’s third in four years. In total, the men’s basketball team has won 11 championships, their first coming in the 1964-65 season.
“It was a great win for our program, we have worked hard all year to get that trophy back where it belongs and the guys performed when they needed to,” said head coach Marc Dobell in a Cougar Athletics press release.
“ We are looking forward to another two weeks together and competing for a National Championship.”
The Cougars finished the regular season in first place in the ACAC South Division with 18 wins and two losses. Jordan Hone led scoring in the regular season with 255 points for an average of 11.59 per game.
With the ACAC championship win, the team will advance to the CCAA Nationals at the University of Northern British Columbia in Prince George from Mar. 19-21.
