Cougars, Calamities and Classics: Smells Like College Spirit?

Good day friends! I know you’ve already got your hot little hands on the most recent edition of The Reflector on an MRU newstand or computer near you and because of that you have read our little ditty on MRU’s school spirit.

Now I am going to admit that I myself need to ramp up my school spirit, for as much time as I spend at the college I need to start attending more Cougar games. As a Canadian student I was a little more than envious on a recent trip to Austin, Texas at their displays of school spirit. It wasn’t just the UT garb that everyone and their dog was wearing, it was the fact that off-campus (albeit near campus) stores and restaurants were plastering their windows with Longhorn window sketches. And these homages weren’t just for America’s big sport, football, these were for volleyball and track. MRU doesn’t even have a track team but we do have a great volleyball program with our men’s team one game above 500 at 7-6 and our women’s team with a stellar 9-3 record.

We don’t all have to go about dressed in blue and white with our faces, in some cases bellies, painted with roaring Cougars but take some time to check out a Cougars match in the near future, it’s fun and it’s free for students.  How many other events in this city have that kind of ticket cost?
