Beating boredom: Come one, come all…Factory Party # 8 is upon us!
So I’ve never been to a Factory Party before.
I’ve always thought of it as one of those elite events for the city’s hipsters, but as a friend of mine recently explained to me, it’s a gathering for all types of Calgarians, from all walks of life, and all levels of personal style.
I can’t help but be absolutely edge-of-my-seat excited for this coming Friday, March 12th when Factory Party # 8 descends upon the city.
As an homage to Andy Warhol’s Factory parties held in his Manhattan studio during the swinging ’60s, Calgary’s Factory parties were the brainchild of Modern Leisure photographer Randy Gibson, and have been increasing in popularity and allure since the first soiree was held in August of 2008.
Being held at The Uptown theatre starting at 9 p.m., music, art, fashion, dance, and fun will come together for what I am assured will be a night to remember.
So if you have nothing better to do on Friday come on down and join the party. A few advanced tickets are still on sale as far as I’m told, but entry can be purchased on the door.
Have a gander at the video below if you still need some persuasion:
