Kelsey does Calgary…it’s not what you think…or is it?
Holla Ballas!
Taking up the responsibilities of keeping ya’ll entertained on thereflector.ca for the summer of 2010 has given me the opportunity to check out a lot of really cool things as a (freshly graduated) journalist and web technician (of sorts). So whilst checking out said cool things I’m going to be writing a lot of stories but am also going to blog about some of the really sweet things our city has to offer in the summer months. This will include, events, festivals, random goings-on and probably a lot of food, because really who doesn’t like food!
For instance on did you know on Mondays Broken City has Monday Comedy Night. I checked it out for the first time this Monday to see my friend Zoey rock out comedically for the first time…you can watch up and coming as well as headlining comedians strut their stuff or give it a go open mic style for five bucks!
This Thursday, May 27, I’ll be hitting up the opening night gala for the Fairy Tales Film Festival watching a screening of Untouchable Girls a film about the New Zealand sensation that is the Topp twins, lesbians who yodel and perform…looks epic!
Sunday (May 30) is fourth street’s twenty first annual Lilac Fest. Now I myself have never been to a Lilac Fest but have heard nothing but good times from friends. Live entertainment and over 600 vendors selling all sorts of fabulous things in the picturesque sidewalks of Mission…sounds lovely. I’ll be checking it out posting a photo gallery, maybe a story and a blog post on my experience. Wanna learn more? Check out the site!
Catch ya on the flip side Calgary!
