Time to ‘walk the university walk’

New Mount Royal University President David Docherty kicked off the school year by giving the fall address today.
Speaking in front of a packed house in Ross Glen Hall, Docherty said it’s time to take the next step after becoming a university under former president Dave Marshall.
“The big one’s over,” Docherty said. “We have hundreds of little things to do to walk the university walk.”
The new president said building a state-of-the-art library will be his number one priority moving forward. Another one of his goals will be building a sense of community on campus, he said, adding he’d like to see more activity after 4 p.m.
“It is the people that make the difference,” Docherty said. “We could be in this wonderful facility, but without the enthusiasm and shared purpose of all groups, it would be a far different place.”
