Coaches sound off on season
What do you want in 2012?
Men’s volleyball
“Grigor Kratev, a 7’1” open studies student from France, successfully completed his English Language proficiency class with MRU’s Language Institute in the last semester and is now eligible to play. Behind the strong play of captains Colton deMan and Dan Durham, veteran middle Jordan Lantz and first-year Jordan Parkin, an ACAC conference title and a CCAA National Championship are realistic goals for our squad.”
Women’s volleyball
“We went through a lot of changes over the Christmas break.
We want to continue to progress as a team and want to continue to win after only having two losses in the first part of the season.
We need to make some adjustments and after our last game against Medicine Hat where we split the series, we need to approach every game as crucial.”
Women’s basketball
“We want to continue down the path we started.
That means striving to get better everyday and that will determine our outcome.
Winning will be enough motivation for these guys to continue on and since we know our strengths and weaknesses we can focus on getting better.”
Men’s basketball
“We have had a good start to the year and are looking forward to start of the second half. We are relatively young and have a lot of growth ahead of us. We are not looking past our next game and try to approach each game one at a time. What we accomplish and where we end up at the end of the season will be determined by how well we stay in the moment.”
Women’s hockey
“We have a young team as we have 14 new players in our line up from a year ago.
So we want to continue to get better every day with the hopes of peaking at the right time and winning another ACAC championship in our last season in the league.”
Men’s hockey
“For us, it’s a situation where it’s a log-jam in our conference as far as the top four teams… it’s going to be extremely competitive down the line.
We want to finish off either first or second — we want that first-round bye. Obviously, I think everybody else wants it too.”
