Sweet City kicks off year of cultural events

The Sweet City Celebration on May 11 was the beginning of a year of events to honour Calgary’s status as one of Canada’s cultural capitals. The massive party featured numerous local performing acts, including everything from dragons to drag queens. The Stampeders performed “Sweet City Woman,” the first international #1 hit to come out of Calgary and the Cultural Capital theme song.
