Reflector player of the week for Sept. 24
Wade Louden, Men’s Rugby captain
Why did you initially join the MRU rugby team?
I don’t live on campus, so I wanted to meet some new people. I like meeting people around school and I thought it was a natural fit.
Do you play in any other rugby leagues?
I play for a men’s league over the summer, the Calgary Canucks.
Describe yourself as a player
I’m very calm. I don’t get too emotional, which is good because some people get crazy emotional playing this game. I like running the ball. I’m known for running hard.
Why do you think you were selected as a captain this year?
Quiet leadership is what I think it was. I always have a calm head, so I’m able to give good advice in the moment.
What do you think of your team this year?
We have a lot of potential. I’m really looking forward it. This game can be a little hard at first, but we have a lot of good guys coming back this year. So I’m really excited to see what we can do.
What would you say to others looking to join MRU rugby in the future?
Just come out. We have lots of room, and we always have lots of fun together as a team both on and off the pitch.
