Canada is preparing for the third season of a very successful rendition of Big Brother. With applications still being accepted online, there are some aspects of the show to brace yourself for. Liza Stinton, contestant on Canada’s first season of Big Brother, gives The Reflector some exclusive tips on how to set yourself apart.
“Figure out what makes YOU unique”
Stinton refers to herself as one part “vixen man-eater and one part maternal caregiver.” This gave her a unique dynamic for the show and gave her something for them to focus on. Maybe your edge is being a competition beast, or a diva, or a drama queen, or a nerd. Whatever it is, focus on it and make it yours.
“Never forget the cameras are there”
If you are a Big Brother fan, you have seen many contestants forget that aspect of the show. It is important to remember the show streams live, on the Internet, all day and all night. So don’t make a complete fool of yourself, because this is a representation of you forever.
“Prepare activities”
Stinton refers to her season in this saying, “Gary (runner-up of season one) prepared a fashion show, so maybe bring nail-art or hair chalk; something to entertain yourself through the down time.” The show is long, and can be boring because you have nothing to do while you are in the house.
“Breathe. Pace yourself, and look around”
Stinton emphasizes that this is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. She says that it is easy to get frustrated or bored, but you are in the Big Brother house, so enjoy.
“Register the sights and sounds and emotions of it all; you will be sad when it is over.”
Beware of “the polarity of social media”
Upon leaving the show you are instantly in the public eye. While you are not one of the Kardashians, people will recognize you, and will follow you on social media.
“For every one of your fans, there are two haters.” Don’t forget to let this go, because it will eat you alive.
“Be secure and comfortable with who you are”
You are about to put yourself on display for all of the country, so be sure to have the confidence you need to make it through.
“Don’t lose yourself in the chaos”
Don’t forget that you are one of the few people in the world who will get to have this experience, so enjoy it and indulge in it fully.
Big Brother Canada is accepting audition tapes online until Monday, Nov. 24. So if you think you have the bold personality it takes to fight for the title of Big Brother Canada 3, get your applications in now.
