Todd’s Nods: Summer Lovin’
April showers bring May flowers.
In sports nothing could be more true. April is often the month where sports fans are subjected to “the sink or swim” mentality of making the playoffs.
In May, we are treated to the best month of sports by far in the year. The month of Taurus features the NHL and NBA playoffs, on top the beginning of the MLB season and best four months of golf tournaments leading up the U.S. Open.
In May, you can turn on the television literally every night and something awesome will be on. Even better, the reward for this insane month of sports-anity-is the month of June.
Wait a second, what happens the rest of summer: double-headers of the MLB’s million game season. (The actual number is 163 but still ridiculously too many.)
I digress. Get out, do something and ignore the T.V. for a while and then you can reward yourself by watching the Summer Olympics in London in August. Nothing beats watching gymnastics after two months of running your ass off in the sun.
Enjoy the sun, enjoy the sport and then get ready for a fall semester full of Reflector sports.
